What We Cover

Each topic is taught with clear explanations and regular practice to build lasting understanding.

1

Number

Fractions, decimals, percentages, surds, and standard form — ensuring the fundamentals are rock solid.

2

Algebra

From linear equations to quadratics, simultaneous equations, and algebraic proof. We build complexity gradually.

3

Geometry & Measures

Angles, circle theorems, trigonometry, area, volume, and vectors — with clear diagrams and step-by-step methods.

4

Statistics & Probability

Averages, cumulative frequency, histograms, and probability trees. Often neglected in revision but worth significant marks.

5

Problem Solving

Multi-step and worded problems that require choosing and combining methods. This is where most marks are lost at Higher tier.

6

Calculator & Non-Calculator Skills

Specific strategies for each paper type, including efficient calculator use and reliable mental arithmetic methods.

Why Choose Us

What sets Red Robin Learning apart

Foundation and Higher expertise

Whether your child is aiming for a strong Grade 5 on Foundation or pushing for Grades 8-9 on Higher, we match them with a tutor experienced at their level and adjust the challenge as they improve.

Gap-filling before exam technique

There is no point practising past papers if the underlying knowledge is not there. We identify and fill gaps first, then layer on exam technique and timed practice when your child is ready.

Weekly progress reports

Our AI-generated reports after every session show you exactly which topics your child covered, where they are confident, and what needs more work. No more guessing whether tutoring is making a difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before getting started.

Should my child take Foundation or Higher tier?
Foundation covers Grades 1-5 and Higher covers Grades 4-9. If your child is consistently working at Grade 4 or above, Higher is usually the right choice as it keeps Grade 6+ open. We can help you and your child's school decide based on their current performance.
My child gets very anxious about maths exams. How do you help?
Maths anxiety is extremely common and usually stems from not having reliable methods to fall back on. We build confidence by teaching clear, repeatable steps for each topic type. As your child experiences consistent success in practice, the anxiety reduces naturally.
How quickly can my child improve their grade?
Most students see a one-grade improvement within a term of weekly sessions. A two-grade improvement typically takes two to three terms. The speed depends on how many underlying gaps need filling — our initial assessment gives a realistic timeline.
Do you cover all three exam papers?
Yes. Paper 1 is non-calculator, Papers 2 and 3 allow calculators. Each paper has different demands, and we practise the specific skills and strategies needed for each. We also help your child manage their time across the three papers.
What if my child needs help with another subject too?
Many of our students study both maths and English with us, often with different tutors. We can arrange sessions on different days or back-to-back if that suits your family's schedule. Ask about multi-subject packages when you book your free trial.
