Before you can teach: a DBS check

Everyone who teaches our students holds an Enhanced DBS check with the Children's Barred List. You arrange your own — you do not need one to apply, and we will never close your application while yours is in progress.

Already have one on the DBS Update Service? Give us the certificate number and we can check it in seconds. Nothing to pay and nothing to wait for.
If not, you can apply through uCheck for £81.50, which includes the £49.50 government fee. Most come back in about a week, though it takes longer if you have lived at several addresses.
Then register it on the Update Service within 30 days of the issue date on the certificate — £16 a year. This one is easy to miss and there is no way back: after 30 days the only option is a fresh check at full price. It also means you never need to pay for another one to keep working with us.
